Eifman Ballet wins the Golden Mask

The ballet Crime and Punishment is a laureate of the 32nd Golden Mask Russian National Theatre Award!

The production won in the category “Contemporary Ballet”. The award ceremony took place tonight at the Omsk State Musical Theatre. Eifman Ballet was represented at the event by its leading soloist, Honored Artist of Russia Lyubov Andreyeva.

The premiere of Boris Eifman’s choreographic interpretation of Fyodor Dostoevsky’s novel was held in September 2024. The production was created in collaboration with Boris Eifman’s long-standing artistic partners: Zinovy Margolin (sets), Olga Shaishmelashvili (costumes), and Gleb Filshtinsky (light). The main parts during the premiere show were performed by Vladimir Afonichkin (Raskolnikov), Daniil Afonichkin (Raskolnikov’s Shadow), Lyubov Andreyeva (Sonya Marmeladova), Dmitry Fisher (Porfiry Petrovich), Sergey Volobuev (Svidrigailov), Maria Abashova (Dunya), and Polina Pavlenko (Old Pawnbroker Woman). The creators of Crime and Punishment and the soloists of the premiere cast were awarded a diploma recognizing their participation in the prize-winning production, as well as the Golden Mask lapel badge.

It should be noted that, under the current regulations of the Golden Mask Award, prizes for best male role and best female role in ballet are not presently awarded.
