On January, 24 the Governor of St. Petersburg Valentina Matvienko has signed the decree «About the creation of St.-Petersburg state institution of vocational education «Dance Academy of Boris Eifman».
The purpose of the activity of the establishment, according to the text, is «the organization of granting of average vocational training in the field of choreographic art and theatrical technologies». By activity subjects are declared «realization of educational programs of vocational training in the field of choreographic art, and also in the field of theatrical technology; the initial, basic, average (full) general education; initial vocational training; additional vocational training (improvement of professional skills)». «The maintenance, education and social adaptation of children-orphans and children without parental support on the basis of full state maintenance; scientifically-methodical activity; cultural-educational activity» are also among the subjects of activity of the Academy.
The сreation of Academy is linked to necessity of «preservations of the best achievements of the Petersburg culture and maintenance of continuity of leading creative schools».
Earlier in one of the interviews to Petersburg mass-media Boris Eifman told the following about functions Dance Academy: «The social program of training of children from unsuccessful families will be strategic. After all, if you remember many ballet stars could never develop their abilities without support of the authorities: Anna Pavlova - the orphan, daughter of the laundress, Olga Spessivtseva, Vaslav Nijinsky grew without father in very poor family... Therefore search of talented children all over the country will be socially important in education of the future professionals».
